‘Going to win this’: Paul Merson makes Spurs v Manchester United prediction

Spurs and Manchester United will lock horns at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this evening.

Both Tottenham and the Red Devils are currently in difficult positions in the league, with both managers under pressure.

Last week, Spurs suffered a 1-0 defeat at West Ham, while United fell to a humiliating 5-0 home loss at the hands of Liverpool.

That said, Nuno Espirito Santo’s charges will go into this game on the back of a 1-0 victory against Burnley in the Carabao Cup.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils will not only be desperate to make amends for their dismal defeat to Liverpool, but also seek a return to winning ways in the league.

United have lost three and drawn one of their last four league matches, and have collected just 14 points from their nine top-flight games this term.

Paul Merson, writing for Sportskeeda, has given his result prediction for the game in North London.

The Arsenal legend feels United will “pull off something similar” to the Champions League win over Atalanta, and predicted a 2-1 away victory.

“Manchester United have a way of finding results in games like these,” wrote Merson.

“But if they do lose to Spurs and keep Solskjaer in this job, they aren’t going anywhere, are they?

“They can’t keep drifting along like this – it’s already November!

It isn’t really Ronaldo’s fault either, he isn’t getting the service.

“He’s non-existent at the moment, and he isn’t touching the ball.

“If you want to keep him in the team, drop him back and play someone like Cavani or Greenwood up front.

“Give Ronaldo the ball and get runners around him. I’d get Cavani in the team and give Ronaldo a free role.

“This is a must-win game for Manchester United.

“They just seem to find results in difficult situations, and I think that’s what will happen here.

“Manchester United are going to win this game, and it’ll paper over the cracks yet again.

“They did manage a victory against Atalanta in the Champions League, and I think they’ll pull off something similar this weekend.”
