Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has taken to Twitter with a message for the Gunners fanbase and for teammate Bukayo Saka following the club’s return to action.

Mikel Arteta’s charges began their preparations for 2020-21 with a pre-season friendly against MK Dons on Tuesday night, and emerged 4-1 winners over the EFL side.

Arsenal took the lead early on in the encounter through Mohamed Elneny, who has not long returned from a successful loan spell at Besiktas.

Nketiah then doubled the Gunners’ lead six minutes later, lashing past Lee Nichols after connecting with Saka’s cutback.

Although Rob Holding conceded an own goal to give MK a lifeline, Mark McGuinness and Reiss Nelson struck for Arsenal in the second half for an ultimately comfortable win.

Nketiah, who came off in the 62nd minute, praised Saka for his role in the goal and praised the link-up play between the two:

And in turn, some Arsenal fans praised Nketiah for his display, looking ahead to more from him this season:

Nketiah registered nine goals in all competitions last season – five on loan at Leeds United and four at Arsenal.

Arteta rates the 21-year-old highly, describing him to the Arsenal website in June as “extraordinary at his age.”

Speaking after the 3-0 loss to Man City, Arteta added: “He has an immense personality to play, confidence, he’s powerful and is developing in every area I think. I have a lot of faith in him.”
