‘Going to be great’: Jose Enrique makes exciting prediction about 'talented' Liverpool 22-year-old
Jose Enrique is excitedly predicting that Ibrahima Konate is going to be a success at Liverpool.
Konate, 22, is currently with the Reds squad for his first pre-season as a Liverpool player.
The French defender completed a move to Anfield this summer from German club RB Leipzig, so is preparing for his first taste of Premier League football.
He’s arrived on Merseyside to bolster the options in the heart of defence because Ozan Kabak has not returned to the club despite a successful loan spell last season.
Konate, who played 95 senior games for Leipzig, already has decent senior experience in his short career.
However, the pressure will increase at English giants Liverpool.
Ex-Reds defender Enrique is excited about Konate’s future:
“He is a top talented player. Let’s see in the games in pre-season how he adapts to our style of play but I believe he is going to be great,” Enrique said on Instagram.
Ibrahima Konate will have huge fight to be in Liverpool XI
Liverpool may have forked out £36million for Konate, but that doesn’t necessarily guarantee him a starting position.
Jurgen Klopp’s side has so much talent in the heart of defence.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are now returning from respective long-term injury problems, so they’ll both be aiming to reform their previous partnership.
However, Nat Phillips is a defender that capitalised on his opportunity last season.
Konate is an athletic centre-half that looks ideal for English football with his pace and power. However, it’s not always straightforward to settle.
