‘Going to be a hard game’: Paul Merson predicts result of Arsenal v Fulham clash

Arsenal welcome Fulham to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners are looking to build on their superb start to the new Premier League season against the newly-promoted Cottagers.

Arsenal have won all three of their league games so far to go top of the table.

Meanwhile, the west Londoners have also enjoyed a bright start to the 2022-23 campaign.

They picked up draws against Liverpool and Wolves before beating Brentford last time out.

Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw by Fulham when the two teams last met at the Emirates Stadium in April 2021.

However, the Cottagers have not beaten the Gunners in the league since January 2012.

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has shared his Premier League results predictions on Sportskeeda.

The Highbury icon feels Fulham have a “hard game” in front of them and predicts Arsenal will win 3-0.

He also backed Gabriel Jesus, who has enjoyed a wonderful start to life at the Emirates, to score again.

Merson also stressed the Gunners must “strike while the iron’s hot” in terms of winning their “easy games”.

“This is going to be a hard game for Fulham,” wrote Merson.

“They’ve done well away from home in the Premier League, but this is a different kettle of fish.

“When Brentford had a go at them the other day, they were opened up on quite a few occasions.

“Gabriel Jesus should be able to score again this weekend.

“Arsenal have got great fixtures at the moment, but what follows easy games? Hard ones.

“When the Premier League fixture list is kind, you have to take advantage and strike while the iron’s hot.

“Teams like Liverpool haven’t done that so far, and they’re already five points behind the ball game.

“I’m going to back Arsenal to keep their run going this weekend. 3-0.”
