‘Goes and becomes next Van Dijk’: Some Arsenal fans urge Mikel Arteta not to sell ‘absolute gem’

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the Goal.com report linking Konstantinos Mavropanos with five Bundesliga sides.

The 22-year-old defender and Greece Under-21 international has been on the books at Arsenal since January 2018, when he joined from PAS Giannina.

However, injury issues have led to him making just eight first-team appearances with the North London club, much of his game time coming for the Under-23s.

In January, Mavropanos joined 2. Bundesliga side FC Nurnberg on loan for the rest of the season, where he has made 10 appearances to date.

The 6ft 4in centre-back has helped his current side keep three clean sheets, which appears to have sparked interest in his services from Germany’s top flight.

The Goal.com report claims Mavropanos would favour remaining at Arsenal, but could be tempted by Germany due to the lack of playing time potentially on offer under Mikel Arteta.

Indeed, he is yet to feature on the pitch under Arteta, though he has made the matchday squad several times.
With William Saliba heading to the Emirates Stadium following his loan at Saint-Etienne, Mavropanos risks falling further down the pecking order.

Here is what some Arsenal fans have been saying on social media about the report:
