Celtic loanee Fraser Forster has praised his Bhoys team-mate Ryan Christie and claimed that the squad he is now part of could compete in the Premier League.

As per the Daily Record, Forster was keen to show his admiration for Christie having embarked on his second spell at Parkhead after falling down the pecking order at Southampton.

He said: “Ryan Christie has been absolutely brilliant. Even from that very first game I watched, he was so positive. Everything he does, he looks to get turned and play up the pitch.

“I just think we’ve got such a good mix of youth and experience. Within that we’ve got so much quality as well.”

TBR’s View – Christie’s improvement has been remarkable, but is Forster right to say Celtic would succeed in the Premier League?

Forster also said: “Looking at what we’ve got in the dressing room and the team we’ve got, there’s no reason why we wouldn’t have a comfortable season in the Premier League. I have been surprised at just how good they are.”

Christie has now evolved into a player who would be able to cut it in England and the amount of bottom half dross in the Premier League shouldn’t scare Celtic.

Their away form would need to improve – as their European record on the road shows – but Celtic could probably make a good swing of it in England, and Christie would be able to be a big part of that, which perhaps not too many would have predicted at the start of last season.
