Glenn Hoddle thinks £140k-a-week Spurs ace didn’t enjoy playing last Sunday

Tottenham Hotspur legend Glenn Hoddle has claimed that Spurs ace Son Heung-min wouldn’t have enjoyed last Sunday’s Premier League game.

Jose Mourinho’s charges picked up a goalless draw at Chelsea, which sent the North Londoners top of the table, level on points with Liverpool.

Neither side delivered much on the attacking front, with a normally swashbuckling Spurs outfit restricted to just one shot on target the whole game.

Son, deployed on the right wing instead of the left, tried hard to make things happen, whipping in a good cross in the second half and launching a couple of counter-attacks.

However, the £140,000-a-week man didn’t see much of a ball given the calibre of the opposition combined with Jose Mourinho’s defensive tactics in the game.

Hoddle told Optus Sport: “(Mourinho) is loving this moment in time going into the big games top of the league.

“But there are a certain amount of players in the Spurs dressing room who wouldn’t have enjoyed the game.

“Son wouldn’t have enjoyed the game, what he had to do for the team. It was the right thing to do to get the point to go top.”

TBR View:

Admittedly, it wouldn’t have been the most enjoyable game for Son and Kane, but in the grand scheme of things, does it matter?

Michael Owen followed on from Hoddle’s comments by suggesting that, were he playing up front for Spurs, he’d have doubted whether Mourinho even trusted him and his fellow forwards.

Footballers have a job to do, and considering the game was away at a tough opponent and the result, a point, helped Spurs back to the top of the table, the ends certainly justified the means.
