Tottenham suffered a blip in their bid to get into the top four as Brighton and Hove Albion came to town and took all three points.
A late goal from Leo Trossard was enough for the Seagulls to take the win and give Tottenham’s north London rivals, Arsenal, a massive chance to take the initiative later on today.

For Tottenham, it was a disappointing performance and one which Conte hasn’t been used to seeing of late. His team looked sluggish and lethargic and failed to create anything of note all afternoon. Indeed, the onlooking Glenn Hoddle, who was on co-comms for BT Sport, was baffled by the leggy nature of the Spurs players. And in the 72nd minute, he singled out Rodrigo Bentancur for that reason.
“He’s looked very leggy today hasn’t he, Bentancur,” Hoddle said on BT as the midfielder was taken off.
“Then again, so have all the Tottenham players. It’s been a strange game. It’s almost had a friendly spring feel to it.”
Bentancur has been excellent in the main since he arrive and his performance summed up a dismal display on the whole from Tottenham. Certainly, Hoddle’s observation here was spot on in regards to the midfielder.
TBR’s View: Tottenham Not At The Races
This was a game that was always going to be tough for Spurs but the way they performed today was baffling in all honesty.
They never got going and Brighton more than deserved their win. It could be another massive weekend in the race for the top four and Arsenal will take huge morale from seeing this result.
