Tottenham Hotspur icon Glenn Hoddle was far from impressed with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min‘s performances against Aston Villa.
Antonio Conte and Unai Emery went head-to-head in the Premier League for the first time, and it was the old Arsenal boss who came out on top thanks to Emi Buendia and Douglas Luiz’s second-half goals.
Spurs just couldn’t get going and their two star men were very quiet as well.

Glenn Hoddle says Tottenham stars Harry Kane and Son Heung-min were ‘totally off it’ vs Aston Villa
Even though Aston Villa are a difficult side to face, especially with Emery at the helm now, Tottenham were the favourites to win the fixture at home.
However, Conte’s men were really, really poor once again, and unlike previous games when they’ve gone a goal or two down and have come from behind to draw or win it, they were made to suffer by the Villans yesterday.
Hugo Lloris’ poor error and Cristian Romero not reacting to the danger helped Villa take the lead, and after Luiz doubled that in the 77th minute, there was no way back for the hosts.
As much as the defence is to be blamed, the attackers didn’t quite do enough either. Hoddle went as far as saying that he had never before seen Kane and Son play as badly as they did yesterday.
He said on MatchDay Live on Premier League Productions right after the game: “If you sum up their two best players – Kane and Son – it’s probably the worst I’ve seen them play together in the same team.
“They were just off it, totally off it.”

TBR View:
It just wasn’t Tottenham’s day yesterday, and even their two best players – Kane and Son – couldn’t do anything to change the way the game was going.
It took Kane almost 20 minutes to touch the ball for the first time, which is just shocking considering that he is their best player – both in front of goal and as a creator.
Son, on the other hand, has been really poor since the season began. He has just not looked anything like his usual self, and that’s one of the biggest reasons why Tottenham have struggled so much.
Spurs take on Crystal Palace next in what will be a very tricky fixture. If Kane and Son don’t step up, Conte’s men will likely struggle again.
