Glenn Hoddle says Tottenham can go up 'another level' if one player starts playing well

Tottenham Hotspur legend Glenn Hoddle, speaking on the Seaman Says podcast, has backed Spurs to reach “another level” if Son Heung-min continues to play well.

Prior to last weekend, the Tottenham forward was in poor form.

Son had failed to score in his side’s first eight games of the 2022-23 campaign.

This led to Antonio Conte taking the £22million man out of the starting XI against Leicester City.

However, Son responded in the best possible way off the bench, by going on to score a hat-trick.

His first came on 73 minutes as he drove forward after Leicester gave the ball away and rifled into the top corner.

Six minutes from time, the 30-year-old lashed a left-footed effort home – again, into the top corner.

And in the 86th minute, Son got his third, sliding the ball under Danny Ward, though he had to wait for a VAR check.

Hoddle believes Tottenham have “not playing anywhere near as well” as they could – or indeed will.

However, he reckons the potential is there to kick on.

And if Son stays firing on all cylinders, then things could get exciting at N17, Hoddle suggested.

“Back to Tottenham, they’re not playing anywhere near as well as they can or they will do,” he said.

“Conte has got something, the buys have been great, the change around so quickly and there are players who haven’t started yet.

“If Son starts playing well there’s another level to go to.”
