Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has been praised by Glenn Hoddle, who believes the “wonderful” player has what it takes to get Jurgen Klopp’s Reds back to where they were a year ago.
The Spanish ace joined Liverpool to much fanfare in September, arriving from Bayern Munich in a £25million deal.
His early days at Anfield didn’t go to plan, however, and he only made two appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side before Christmas due to either injury or illness.

Thiago was eased back into action in Liverpool’s last game of 2020, getting 17 minutes off the bench in the goalless draw with Newcastle.
Since then, he has clocked up a further three appearances – 45 minutes against Aston Villa in the FA Cup and the full 90 against Southampton and Manchester United in the Premier League.
Thiago’s performances since his return have wowed Reds fans, and Hoddle has earmarked him as his player to watch this week.
“He is not 100 percent fit but I am going to say Thiago Alcantara,” the England legend wrote in the Evening Standard.
“He is a wonderful footballer and he might help Liverpool get back to where they were last year.”
TBR View:
It’s taken a while for Liverpool fans to see a fully up-and-running Thiago and, even though it’s early days still, he has been sensational, with many calling him a joy to watch.
The Reds have certainly had their fair share of issues this season, with a spate of injuries, ranging from short-term to long-term, to key players, yet they’re still flying high.
Thiago is sure to play a big part in Liverpool’s silverware hopes this season and beyond, and as he gets more experience playing under Klopp alongside key players coming back from injury, then they’ll once again be a force to be reckoned with.
