Tottenham Hotspur hero Glenn Hoddle doesn’t think Argentina are the favourites to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar because of players like Giovani Lo Celso.

The midfielder joined Spurs from Real Betis back in the summer of 2019. Many people expected him to be a huge hit in North London, but things just haven’t worked out for him in the famous white shirt.

Glenn Hoddle says Argentina won’t win the World Cup because of players like Tottenham’s Lo Celso

The World Cup begins tomorrow and the excitement is building.

Brazil are many people’s favourites to win the biggest sporting competition in the world, while a few others believe France have what it takes to retain their crown.

Argentina are being backed to go all the way too by some people, including Arsenal legend Ian Wright. Hoddle, however, doesn’t think they will because of players like Lo Celso and Nicolas Otamendi.

The Tottenham legend said on Michael Calvin’s Football People Podcast, as quoted by HITC: “We’ve (England) got as much chance as anyone.

“France and Brazil will be favourites with a bit of Argentina, but Argentina are a funny team, but, no disrespect, they have players like Otamendi and players like Lo Celso, who can’t even get in the Tottenham team in their starting XI.”

Hoddle may have missed the news, but Lo Celso is not going to the World Cup.

The Argentine picked up an injury in a game against Athletic Bilbao and scans revealed he had suffered a hamstring tear, which required surgery (Football London).

Otamendi, on the other hand, may not even play. Argentina have Cristian Romero and Lisandro Martinez at the back, which eliminates the need for the veteran defender

We agree with Hoddle, however, Argentina are a funny team as you never know what to expect. But, when you have Lionel Messi in your team, anything is possible.
