Glenn Hoddle told BT Sport that Gio Lo Celso produced a display that was the best he has seen from the Argentine in a Tottenham shirt, on Thursday.
Spurs cruised past Slovenian side NS Mura with a brilliant 5-1 win in North London – largely thanks to a Harry Kane hat-trick, who came on as a sub.
In the first half, Spurs scored through Dele Alli – who won a penalty and then scored it. Lo Celso got the second, hammering the ball into the corner.
Mura got one back early in the second 45 with Spurs switching off slightly. The goal encouraged Nuno to bring on the big guns; it seriously paid off.
Kane netted a quick-fire hat-trick, taking his tally to six for the season in all competitions. But it was Lo Celso that earned praise from Hoddle.
Asked about Tottenham’s midfield by Jermaine Jenas, Hoddle said that Lo Celso’s performance was the best he has seen from him in a Spurs shirt.

“That’s the best I’ve seen him play. Albeit against weaker opposition. There is a player there. When Son, Moura, Kane came on, he came alive.
“If he can play like that against better opposition, under a bit more pressure – he used his time well. He’s got a reproduce that,” Hoddle said.
Hoddle on Lo Celso: Encouraging for Tottenham fans?
Lo Celso’s best spell for Tottenham came when Jose Mourinho used the playmaker in a deeper role towards the back end of the 2019-20 season.
But injuries and a lack of momentum have hampered Lo Celso’s time at Spurs. He needs a consistent run of game time to find his best form.
The ex-PSG man is also arguably a victim of his own versatility, able to play anywhere in midfield and out wide – but struggling to nail down a position.
However, his display against Mura will give fans hope that finally, the £70,000-a-week (Spotrac) star could finally discover his best form.
