Glenn Hoddle critical of Yves Bissouma after yellow card in Spurs clash
Glenn Hoddle was critical of Yves Bissouma after the Tottenham midfielder was booked during the first-half of their clash with West Ham on Wednesday, telling BT Sport (31/8; 20:08) that it was ridiculous from the summer signing to show dissent.
Bissouma was handed the chance to make his first Premier League start for Spurs with Rodrigo Bentancur missing out.
It proved to be a successful first-half for Tottenham. They had initially been awarded a penalty before the decision was overturned.
And they took the lead 11 minutes before the break. Some good work from Harry Kane led to Thilo Kehrer being forced to put the ball into his own net.
However, it was not a flawless half from Tottenham. Bissouma was booked after losing his cool after a collision with Jarrod Bowen. Bissouma appeared to accidentally step on the West Ham forward.
But he then proceeded to punch the ball away. And that left Peter Bankes producing the yellow card. And Hoddle felt that it was a stupid thing to do considering how early in the game it was.
“Think he’s caught him on the ankle, it’s totally accidental,” he told BT Sport. “I think the crowd responded because they saw him go down. But ridiculous to punch the ball the way and get himself a yellow, it really is. He’s now on a knife-edge for the rest of the game.”

That feisty side is obviously part of Bissouma’s game. He is someone who was booked 10 times in the Premier League last season.
Obviously, Antonio Conte will be wary of Bissouma getting himself into trouble unnecessarily. But his combative nature is what helps make him one of the finest midfielders in the Premier League.
