Glasgow Rangers have received £10m offer for their 25-year-old star, journalist claims
Duncan Castles has told the Transfer Window Podcast that Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is the subject of interest from Porto.
Morelos finished last season on 15 goals for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side, and his form over the past few years has now attracted the attention of other clubs across Europe.
Morelos has regularly been linked with a move away from Ibrox in the last few transfer windows.
And it now seems that Rangers are having to field offers from Porto, as they look to keep their Colombia striker.
“They [Porto] need to get a striker in, and currently one of the strikers they are looking at is Alfredo Morelos at Rangers,” Castles said.
“My understanding is that they have made a €12 million offer [£10 million] for Morelos. If they get that done, they can then move on to other areas.”
Could Morelos go?
It seems doubtful that Rangers would accept an offer of £10 million for Morelos.
His value may have fallen slightly over the past season, but Rangers have previously placed huge price tags on him, and it would be a shock to see an agreement reached at such a price.
It doesn’t seem out of the question that Rangers do cash in on the combustible forward, though.
Gerrard’s side do have a collection of strong attacking options now, and they may well move to sign more in the summer.
If Rangers do offload Morelos then the funds from his departure may also help them improve in other areas of the squad.
