A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the Milan News report claiming Gunners midfielder Lucas Torreira is back on AC Milan’s radar.

The Uruguayan found consistent game time hard to come by for the Gunners earlier this season, with now-departed manager Unai Emery largely utilising him as a rotation player.

Torreira has since become a key member of Arsenal’s squad under Mikel Arteta, though his last few appearances for the Gunners prior to the shutdown were off the bench (Transfermarkt).

The 24-year-old, who signed for the Gunners in a £26million deal from Sampdoria in 2018, admitted in 2019 that he missed life in Italy as he criticised the weather in Britain, as reported by Metro.

Now, according to agent Pablo Bentancur, Torreira is already considering a return to Serie A and is open to a move away from the Gunners this summer.

“I will have to speak to Arsenal,” he told Tuttomercatoweb. “The player would love to return to Italy, but it must be acknowledged that Arsenal treated him very well and behaved great.”

According to Milan News, Bentancur’s comments haven’t gone unnoticed by Milan, who are planning to revamp their midfield in the close season.

The report claims that Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura will leave this summer when their contracts run out, while Franck Kessie and Lucas Paqueta could be sold to raise funds as they haven’t “fully convinced” the Rossoneri contingent.

With Torreira’s contract running until the summer of 2023, the ball is very much in Arsenal’s court regarding his future.

However, if he’s so keen on a return to Italy and his heart isn’t set on playing for the Gunners any more, then a trip to the negotiating table with the 18-time Italian champions and seven-time European Cup winners may be unavoidable.
