'Give us £30m': Some Arsenal fans react after manager says he wants 'unbelievable' Gunners ace

Arsenal fans have responded to Steve Bruce’s comments about wanting to re-sign Joe Willock.

The 21-year-old Gunners midfielder has struggled for game time at the Emirates.

However, Willock shone on loan at Newcastle in the second half of 2020-21.

He scored eight times in 14 Premier League appearances and set a new record by becoming the youngest player to score in seven consecutive games.

The seventh of those goals also equalled Alan Shearer’s mark for goals in consecutive Premier League games for Newcastle.

Willock is now back in north London but his future remains uncertain.

Emile Smith Rowe has just signed a new contract amid reported interest from Aston Villa.

This suggests Mikel Arteta sees ESR as first-choice at No. 10, which in turn means Willock may struggle for game time once again.

“With Arsenal, what are they going to do? They’ve brought in two midfield players,” he replied.

“That’s our starting point, with Joe, because let’s be fair, he had an unbelievable three or four months with us.

“But there has to be a time where we know – is it going to be yes or no?

“We’re only allowed two domestic loans, and we’re only allowed one from each club.

“So, there has to come a time when there’s a cut-off, and we have to find out what’s happening.

“We’re still trying our utmost, whether it’s on loan or to buy him. We’re still trying.”

Some Arsenal fans have responded by telling Bruce – and Newcastle – to simply stump up the cash.
