Giovanni van Bronckhorst has taken to Twitter to express his delight at being confirmed as the new Rangers manager after the announcement emerged from Ibrox on Thursday.
It has appeared for a little while that the Dutchman was the favourite for the post following Steven Gerrard’s decision to leave the Gers for Aston Villa.

Rangers have acted quickly and swiftly. It did appear that there was little talk of any other name coming in.
And in van Bronckhorst, they appear to have landed a very exciting manager to lead them forward following Gerrard’s tenure.

He won the Eredivisie with Feyenoord. And he also got his hands on the domestic cup on two occasions while with the club.
Of course, he is also someone with plenty of knowledge of the Gers. He made 117 appearances for the Light Blues during his playing days, winning the Scottish Premiership on two occasions.
His task now is to help Rangers retain that trophy, while also picking up their battles in the other competitions.
It will be fascinating to see the Light Blues get on in their first few games under van Bronckhorst. Certainly, the supporters will be itching to see how the team differs from the side Gerrard put together.
For now however, the focus is simply on the announcement that van Bronckhorst is through the door at Ibrox.
He has now taken to social media to express his excitement at the news, and his pride at returning to his old club.
Here is what van Bronckhorst posted on Twitter…
