Giovani Lo Celso signature would take Everton to the next level

It seems Everton are ready to mix it with the big boys in the transfer market this summer. The Toffees are said to be in the hunt for Argentine midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

The Sun suggests that Betis could sell the player after securing his permanent option from PSG.

Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are both keen. The report claims Betis would look for double the fee they paid for him, valuing the 23-year-old at £43 million. El Desmarque in Spain have also suggested Everton are interested. They also mention Barcelona as interested whilst noting he has a €100 million (£85.5 million) release clause in his new Betis contract.

Lo Celso has been in fine form in La Liga this term. Considered a wonderkid at Rosario Central, PSG snapped him up in 2016. However, given the competition for places at the Parc des Prince, he had little chance of thriving in the French capital.

Everton would be bringing in a versatile and gifted midfielder with Lo Celso. Similar in playing style to current loanee Andre Gomes, he is best suited to Gylfi Sigurdsson’s current position. Considering one is on loan and the other has been inconsistent, Lo Celso’s arrival makes sense.

It is the type of ambitious transfer that could help propel Everton to the level they are clearly aspiring to. If he’s available at £43 million, then Goodison Park should welcome him with open arms.
