Both Tottenham Hotspur’s Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero have broken their social media silences after joining up with the Argentina squad.
Social media silence broken
The Tottenham duo both travelled to Brazil to play for their country last week, but are now embroiled in a situation where they have been accused of breaking covid protocols.
Brazil and Argentina’s match saw unprecedented scenes were health officials spoke to players on the pitch, with the game ultimately cancelled.
Lo Celso and Romero both now face missing out on playing in Tottenham’s game against Crystal Palace at the weekend.
The pair are expected to travel to Croatia where they will be allowed to train, before returning to England.
And both Tottenham players seemingly sent a defiant message explaining their love for Argentina on social media.
An unwelcome return?
Unfortunately for the pair it seems that their homecoming will not be a celebration.
The Athletic claim that Tottenham are not pleased with either of the player’s actions, and they will be fined upon return to the country.
For Romero it is a fairly disastrous start to his Spurs career.
Tottenham opted to bring him in from Serie A to tighten up their defence, but his latest actions may well mean that he is left out of the team for even longer now.
