Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Giovani Lo Celso has been speaking about the interest in his services from the Premier League side.
Speaking to the press in Argentina, as he prepares for the Copa America with La Albiceleste, he insisted he was only focusing on international duties for now. He is quoted by Mucho Deporte as telling Radio La Red:
“There is nothing new about Tottenham, I’m 100% focused on the national team, we know how strong the English league is, but I’m not focused on that.”
It would certainly seem as though Lo Celso just wants the rumours put to bed until after the competition in Brazil.
As reported by Sky Sports, the Argentine is keen to join his compatriot Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham this summer. But for now, playing for his country takes priority and Tottenham may have to wait.
The issue here is the asking price for Lo Celso. Real Betis reportedly want as near to his £88 million release clause as possible before they even consider letting him go.
That would see Tottenham having to break their transfer record. However, with Christian Eriksen now seemingly ready to leave the club this summer, Tottenham might have to spend big to strengthen their midfield position.
