Gini Wijnaldum has taken to Twitter to post about one of the most ‘defining’ matches of his professional career, and Newcastle supporters have responded.
The Liverpool midfielder has noted that it is four years since he scored four goals for the Magpies in a Premier League game against Norwich City.
The star, who had joined the Toon Army for a reported £14.5 million just months before (BBC Sport), produced an attacking masterclass at St. James Park to give Newcastle their first win of the season.
It was the game that endeared Wijnaldum to the Geordie crowd, and their love for him spurred him on to score 11 goals in the 2015/16 season, before he left to join the Reds that summer.
FOUR years ago today, one of the defining matches of my career. Blessed memories 🙏🏾 pic.twitter.com/GuyCP3u0dX

His stint at the club was brief, but Newcastle supporters knew their side would struggle to keep hold of the star following their relegation to the Championship.
