Gilberto Silva has given big praise to his former club Arsenal after their win on Monday night over Newcastle United.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (two) and Bukayo Saka were both on the scoresheet for the Gunners to give them a 3-0 victory at home to Newcastle.

Mikel Arteta’s side jumped up to 10th in the Premier League table with their latest three points, as they continue to show real signs of revival after a shocking start to the season.

Silva, who was part of the famous Arsenal team that won the league title undefeated, expressed his delight on Twitter following the 3-0 win.

He gave a special mention to Aubameyang, Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and “fantastic” defender Cedric Soares.

TBR’s View:

Arsenal right-back Cedric, 29, produced a great performance during his rare chance in the XI and perhaps he can put some pressure on first-choice full-back Hector Bellerin for the starting position.

The North London club still have league games against Southampton (away) and Manchester United (home) during January, after which it will be a big indication as to whether they are back in the race for the Champions League positions.

Arteta’s side have built huge confidence since a 3-1 win over Chelsea and they need to continue that to claw back the deficit above them.
