Ghana ended their qualification campaign for the African Cup of Nations with an excellent, yet comfortable, 3-1 win over Sao Tome on Sunday afternoon – and plenty have applauded the performance of Arsenal ace Thomas Partey.
Ghana were tasked with gaining three points to finish at the top of Group C at the qualifying stage, which will take place in January 2022. They got the win with Partey lasting 90 minutes – while Crystal Palace’s Jordan Ayew scored.
The Palace man scored from the penalty spot while Chelsea-owned ace Baba Rahman also netted. Amiens loanee Nicholas Opoku scored his first goal for his country, in what was a comfortable win that saw Ghana ease to victory.

The likes of Partey, 27, hardly looked as though they emerged from second gear, cruising throughout the match to help Ghana win. He clocked up his 29th cap for Ghana, in which he has scored an impressive nine goals.
The win sees Ghana sit ahead of Sudan and South Africa – with the latter surprisingly missing out on qualifying for the competition early next year, having suffered a 2-0 defeat to Sudan in a make-or-break clash.
Ghana fans reacted to the performance of £250,000-a-week midfielder (Spotrac) Partey, and many were impressed with his efforts even if he did not really play to the best of his ability. One fan labelled his performance as “beautiful”.
