After months of speculation, Arsenal have finally signed Thomas Partey, prompting jubilation in the red half of North London.

The 27-year-old midfielder has been linked with the Gunners for a number of months and was said to be one of the number one targets for Mikel Arteta this summer.

With Houssem Aouar staying put at Lyon, Arsenal were widely reported to be making a late move to trigger Partey’s £45million release clause before the transfer window shut.

Those reports proved to be accurate as the Ghana international made the switch from Atletico Madrid to Arsenal on transfer deadline day.

Partey signed a long-term deal at the Emirates Stadium after he completed his medical and paperwork just before Monday’s 11pm deadline.

The Ghana Football Association has congratulated Partey for his switch, sending him a message on Twitter in response to Arsenal’s announcement video:

With the transfer window now shut, attention will switch from club to international football, with Partey flying to Turkey to link up with the Ghana squad.

The Black Stars will contest friendlies against Mali on Friday 9 October and Qatar on Monday 12 October.
