'Getting towards the stage': Charles Watts thinks £22.5m Arsenal player will be sold before Palace game
Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno will “probably go” before the Gunners’ first game of the season, according to Charles Watts.
The Goal.com Arsenal correspondent held a Q&A on his YouTube channel, where he spoke about a number of topics.
Transfer talk featured heavily, with Gunners fans also asking about the captaincy and who could start against Crystal Palace.
The Gunners take on the Eagles on Friday 5 August in the 2022-23 Premier League season opener.
One fan asked Watts whether he thought there would be more incomings and outgoings before then.
“I’d be surprised if there are any more incomings before the Crystal Palace game,” replied Watts.
“Outgoings, yes, I do think there probably will be before the Palace game.
“Bernd Leno, I imagine will probably go, I’d be surprised if he’s still here.
“Nothing’s done yet with Fulham, talks have been going on for a long, long time now.
“But it’s getting towards the stage – I’d be surprised if it doesn’t end up happening.
“I don’t know when, but I think Fulham will want him in before their first game of the season, no doubt.”
On Wednesday, Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth claimed that Fulham have an agreement in principle with Arsenal over Leno.
“Deal worth £8m,” Sheth wrote on Twitter. “Once finer details are finalised, Leno will have a medical and sort personal terms.”
