‘Get rid’: Everton fans fume with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after losing to Millwall

Everton were dumped out of the FA Cup fourth round by Millwall on Saturday evening – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter destroyed goalkeeper Jordan Pickford for his performance.

The Toffees suffered a crushing 3-2 defeat against the Championship team, who came from behind on two occasions before netting a winning goal in stoppage time.

Marco Silva’s team may have thought the cup was a great opportunity to fight for silverware this season, but they came up short and weren’t at the races.

The Merseyside club did get on the scoresheet twice through Richarlison and Cenk Tosun, but didn’t create nearly enough chances against a team in the division below.

Everton were also extremely vulnerable defensively and were made to pay for being fragile from set-pieces.

Pickford received a lot of stick on social media from supporters for his individual display and he’s now quite been himself since a brilliant World Cup in the summer for England.

The 24-year-old is the undisputed number one goalkeepers at Goodiosn Park and he was called upon in the cup fixture too.

But his indecisiveness of whether or not to come off his line in set-pieces may have played a part in the team’s downfall, while his distribution was not to the level he’s capable of.

Everton splashed a £30million (Sky Sports) fee to sign him in 2017, but one supporter even claimed that it is money down the drain.
