‘Get him in boss’: Some Spurs fans urge Jose Mourinho to start ‘brilliant’ 23-year-old on Sunday

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have urged Jose Mourinho to give Joe Rodon his first start in a Spurs shirt in Sunday’s Premier League fixture.

The 23-year-old joined Tottenham from Swansea at the end of the domestic transfer window in mid-October, in a deal reported to be £11million plus add-ons.

Although Rodon’s arrival came too late to make the club’s Europa League squad, he has been included in Spurs’ 25-man Premier League squad.

To date, the Wales international has made just one appearance for Tottenham, a late cameo against Burnley to help run the clock down.

Spurs travel to West Brom on Sunday, after which they embark on a taxing run of league fixtures against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal, with Europa League games in between.

It would be a tough ask of Rodon to start against any of those three league sides, and he can’t play in the Europa group stage.

In addition, he played against the Baggies last season while at Swansea, so with all things considered, Sunday’s game is the most logical option for him to make his first start.
