A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have given their thoughts on the reports linking Spurs with Darwin Nunez.

According to The Sun, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is eager to sign a new forward as cover for Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

The outlet claims Nunez, who plays for Almeria, is on the list, but Spurs face competition from Brighton to land the Uruguayan, who is apparently rated at £15million.

The 21-year-old centre forward joined the Spanish second-tier side from Penarol last summer, and registered 16 goals from 30 games in the league last season.

Earlier this summer, former Napoli man Mariano Bogliacino told Italy’s Radio Kiss Kiss how Nunez is similar to Edinson Cavani.

“Nunez exploded two years ago in Uruguay,” he said. “He is a fast, very strong attacker with physical strength and good instincts, like Cavani. He can thrive in the penalty area.”

Several other reports on Nunez have been doing the rounds in recent days, with Football London claiming the Uruguay international has a £25million price tag and is wanted by Benfica.

Whilst Nunez has a lot going for him, he is unproven at the top level, could take time to acclimatise to the Premier League, and wouldn’t count as home-grown.

Therefore, Spurs may be reluctant to spend a lot on him, particularly if they’re on a modest budget due to the global health crisis.

That said, reaction from the Tottenham fanbase about the report has been largely positive:
