‘Bring him back’, ‘let’s hope’: Some Tottenham fans react to rumour about Spurs fan favourite

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the France Football report suggesting Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will be required to pay Mauricio Pochettino a further £4million if he fails to manage another club by next season.

Spurs parted ways with Pochettino in November last year after a poor start to the season that left the North Londoners 14th in the Premier League table, with Jose Mourinho swiftly being brought in as his replacement.

Pochettino was let go by Tottenham after more than five years at the helm, during which time he build Spurs up into a team regularly finishing in the top four of the Premier League and qualifying for the Champions League, even getting to the final last season.

This week, France Football published a list of who they believe to be the top 20 highest paid football managers in the game.

The calculations are produced by taking into account the bonuses earned from the 2018-19 campaign, the gross salary earned in 2019-20 and other public streams of revenue also earned over the latter period.

The report, as cited by Get French Football News, lists Pochettino at 16th place in the list.

It claims that the Argentine received a £3.5million payout this season, on top of the £3.5million in wages he had already earned in wages for 2019-20.

In addition, Pochettino will reportedly be due another £4million next season from Spurs if he has not taken up a new job by then, such is how his exit agreement with the club has been structured.

With numerous Tottenham fans still unimpressed with Pochettino’s dismissal, not to mention a replacement that hasn’t exactly elevated the team to new heights, the report was met with a fairly positive reaction.
