Greg Docherty reminded Rangers manager Steven Gerrard of his talents with a spectacular goal last night.

In a televised FA Cup replay between Salford City and Shrewsbury Town, Docherty scored a final individual goal to put the Shrews 2-0 up.

Shrewsbury went on to win the game 3-1 with Docherty standing out yet again.

The 22-year-old has been in excellent form this season after Rangers decided he was surplus to requirements.

The Scotland under-21 international’s goal last night was his fifth in all competitions.

And it was a special goal as well. Docherty collected the ball on the right wing, cut inside two players, evaded a sliding tackle and from a narrow angle, thumped the ball into the roof of the net.

With Rangers struggling in central midfield, Docherty’s form has alerted Rangers fans, who want to see him back.

The ex-Hamilton midfielder is certainly making his case to Gerrard during his loan stint at Shrewsbury.

And here are how Rangers fans reacted to his goal scoring performance last night.
