Brazilian midfielder Gerson has been linked with a move to Tottenham throughout the summer. Now, the Flamengo midfielder has spoken about the potential move and made it clear that he has no intention of leaving the club this summer.
Speaking to Globo Esporte he made it clear he is happy to have rediscovered his best form back in his homeland and believes Flamengo are on par with most European clubs.
“I feel at home, I am happy, I am wanted and I am at a club that is on the level of European sides.
“We can’t shut doors, football shows this, but today I am very happy and fulfilled to be in the club of my heart.
“I rediscovered myself here and I want to win yet more trophies in this shirt.”
Tottenham started being linked with a move for Gerson last month in what appeared as something of a shock.
It was reported by Goal that Jose Mourinho is a fan of the player and that Tottenham had been tracking him since December.

The same source later claimed that an official bid had been lodged with the Copa Libertadores winners, valued at £16 million.
R7 Esportes later claimed that this offer had been rejected and that Tottenham would need to pay a fee in the region of £45 million to have any chance of signing the Brazilian.
Gerson has previously struggled in Europe after a move to Roma and that disappointment made any interest from Tottenham surprising.
Now it seems that, even if Tottenham’s interest is legitimate, the Brazilian has taken a principled stance to remain where he is.
