Gerrard’s Rangers siege mentality should get the best out of oft-criticised Morelos

Controversy has followed Alfredo Morelos around throughout his Rangers career and Sunday was no different.

Following the Gers’ 1-0 loss at the hands of Livingston, Lee Miller blasted the hitman for failing to shake hands with Declan Gallagher.

The striker has already had two red cards this season which has hampered a side for whom collective discipline has been a problem at times.

However, fortunately for Morelos, Steven Gerrard has been busy building a siege mentality. He knows not many people outside of Ibrox think Rangers can win the league so he’s decided not to worry himself about what people outside of Ibrox think.

That will only serve to help the man who is Rangers’ best striker. His quality is not in doubt, but Gerrard must find a way to get him to channel his energy in the best way to help the team.

By creating a mentality where all negativity and irrelevant opinions are shut out, Gerrard should be able to build support around Morelos.

He will hope to feel the love from his manager and the fans as well; in time, that should mean he calms right down and scores the goals to fire Rangers up the league.
