Steven Gerrard has said that Rangers central defender Connor Goldson reminds him of his former club and international team-mate Jamie Carragher, as per the Scottish Sun.
Goldson has apparently refused offers of a rest this season and wants to play as much football as he can for the Gers, which has brought back memories of Carragher from Gerrard’s playing days.
He said: “We have tried to manage Connor on different occasions, give him a breather. He won’t have it.
“I can tell by his face, he reminds me in many ways of Jamie Carragher who would get confrontational when you tried to rest him. That’s the mentality we need at this football club, we need players who are desperate to put their bodies on the line.”

Gerrard was always a fierce competitor as a player and in Carragher he found a kindred spirit who would do everything he could to get on the pitch and fight for his team.
The Gers boss is spot on when he says that’s the mentality his team needs if they are to eventually overhaul Celtic under his watch and Goldson setting that example is ideal for Gerrard.
But it’s very high praise indeed from Gerrard to compare Goldson to his former team-mate and close friend – and it’s down to the former Brighton man to carry on producing if Rangers want to keep pushing forward.
