Steven Gerrard has given his opinion on the growing transfer interest in his talismanic striker Alfredo Morelos, as per the Times.
As Ligue 1 outfit Nice prepare for the impending departure of Mario Balotelli to Marseille, they have reportedly eyed up a swoop for Morelos to replace him.
Gerrard was typically forthright in his assessment of the situation, and said: “We don’t want to sell. The board don’t want to sell. I’ve been made aware that they are preparing an £8 million bid but they are wasting their time. It’s nowhere near enough and the player isn’t for sale.
“Every single player has a price. I’m not naïve enough to be sitting here saying none of them are for sale ever. He’s the top scorer in the league and there have been players who have gone for double that amount that don’t score as many goals as him.”

Gerrard’s comments hint that he values Morelos around the £16m mark – but is that a fair evaluation of his worth in the current market?
You’d have to say that it is, for a striker of Morelos’ age and undoubted talent, but the finances in the Scottish game just have not evolved in the same rapid way as those across Europe.
Anything above £15m would give Gerrard enough to reconstruct his team, and £20m would be an outstanding offer.
Otherwise, Gerrard would need to hope Dave King holds firm and keeps Morelos as the darling of Ibrox.
