Steven Davis has posted a long-winded message on Instagram to Rangers supporters as the experienced midfielder reflected on what has been a brilliant season for his club, and on a personal level – prompting plenty of reaction.
Davis, 36, proved that age is just a number as he clocked up a whopping 49 appearances in all competitions and remains a candidate for the Player of the Season award – though the Rangers award has gone to Allan McGregor.
The ex-Southampton star also surpassed 300 appearances for Rangers, while on an international stage, Davis became the most-capped player of all four British countries – clocking up more than England’s Peter Shilton.
Having won the Scottish Premiership title, taken his overall career appearances to more than 800 and stopped Celtic from achieving 10 in a row – Davis posted a reflective message on Instagram to fans, as he prepares for 2021-22.
Davis remains an integral part of the Rangers side, signing a new one-year deal at the club. He is expected to continue in the starting line-up for some time, with the veteran best-suited to the anchoring midfield role.
In response to his Instagram post, plenty commented – most notably his manager Steven Gerrard, who posted “what a player”. Northern Ireland and Leeds United ace Stuart Dallas also stated there is “plenty left in the tank”.
