Tottenham Hotspur took on Norwich City in a rather odd behind-closed-doors friendly yesterday, as both teams stepped up their preparations for the Premier League restart.

With Spurs’ upcoming friendly against Reading cancelled, both teams agreed on a game of four 30 minute quarters. Norwich, in the end, came away with a 2-1 win, according to multiple reports.

By the time Norwich scored their goals, however, Tottenham had reportedly brought on plenty of their younger talents.

One such name, according to Football.London, was George Marsh.

The 21-year-old has seen plenty of action this season, during a loan spell at League Two side Leyton Orient. The tough-tackling midfielder played 29 times for the Orient this season, and also played plenty of football at right-back prior to the league’s early finish due to the current global health crisis.

He is now available for Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho and could easily be seen as a first-team option.

Indeed, Mauricio Pochettino once saw that in Marsh’s future. Speaking to Football.London back in January 2019, after Marsh made his first-team debut alongside TJ Eyoma in the FA Cup, the former Spurs boss explained a first-team future was in the offing for the player.

“These are players who have been involved this season for us. George and TJ they were involved in the pre-season tour in the summer. I think they are players that I hope have a future with us in the first team.”

Tottenham are short at right-back and in terms of a combative defensive-minded midfielder, Marsh fits the bill of a Mourinho-type player.

So it could be that Tottenham fans will be getting to see Marsh in first-team action before the season is out.
