On the pitch, it has seemingly been a frustrating start to the season for Rangers centre-back George Edmundson.
The 23-year-old has only made two appearances for Steven Gerrard’s side in all competitions this term. One of those came in the Europa League qualifier with Lincoln Red Imps back in September.

His first-team prospects already looked fairly bleak as things stood. Connor Goldson appears to have taken his game to another level this season.
Meanwhile, both Filip Helander and Leon Balogun have been outstanding whenever picked alongside him. And Gerrard will hopefully have Nikola Katic back in his ranks at some stage in the future.

Unfortunately for Edmundson, the uphill battle before him has become even bigger. Rangers confirmed on their official website on Monday that the youngster, along with Jordan Jones, have been suspended for breaching Covid regulations.
Rangers future looks to be in doubt
It remains to be seen what impact the incident will have on their respective Ibrox careers. But it is fair to say that it will do neither any favours.
If Edmundson is given an opportunity to get his Rangers spell back on track once his suspension ends – and there may well be plenty of fans imploring the club to not give him another chance – it arguably seems even more imperative than before that he looks for a loan move away in January.
Of course, much may depend on how close Katic is to returning. But it did appear that Gerrard did not deem the former Oldham man to be on the same level as the likes of Goldson, Helander and Balogun at this stage.
So if Edmundson is afforded a fresh start, perhaps a loan move needs to be on the cards to give him the best chance of bouncing back.
