Brighton and Hove Albion have recently built a decent reputation for producing young talent but there cannot be an avenue to the first-team for everyone.
One such player who did not make it into the Brighton first-team picture was talented left-back George Cox.
The young defender left the Seagulls this summer, joining former loan club Fortuna Sittard on a permanent deal after impressing in the Dutch top-flight in the second half of last season.
It was an exit which would have hardly registered on Brighton fans’ radars, however, Cox is now starting to show just why he might have been worth a chance in Graham Potter’s first-team.

Cox is in fine form for the Dutch side, even as they sit bottom of the Eredivisie.
In particular, he is thriving in an attacking sense for Kevin Hofland’s side.
Cox is playing as a wing-back in a 3-5-2 formation for Fortuna and has been the club’s main threat in attack.
The 22-year-old scored in the weekend draw with PEC Zwolle and the previous week saw him bag a brace against Dutch champions Ajax, albeit in a 5-2 loss. Those two goals against Ajax were particularly eye-catching, Cox smashing home with two sweet left-foot strikes.
Cox is currently starring in Holland, in a team who are struggling desperately to get results. Brighton fans will no doubt be wishing their former player all the best.
