'Genuinely world class': Gary Lineker wowed by Liverpool player following today's win
Gary Lineker has described Liverpool ace Trent Alexander-Arnold as “genuinely world class” following the Reds‘ victory today.
Liverpool maintained their winning start in the Premier League thanks to a 2-0 win over Burnley at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s charges took the lead in the 18th minute when Diogo Jota headed home from Kostas Tsimikas’ cross.
Liverpool then thought they’d got a second when Mohamed Salah netted towards the end of the first half, but VAR disallowed it for offside.
However, the Reds made the points safe on 69 minutes when Sadio Mane finished off a fine team move.
Alexander-Arnold played his teammate in for the second goal and delivered a superb performance overall.
Henry Winter lauded the 22-year-old’s display and tipped him to return to the England fold after missing Euro 2020 through injury.
And Lineker agreed:
Alexander-Arnold was Man of the Match with 101 touches, 42 passes in the opposition half, 12 crossed, seven chances created and one assist.
Liverpool are back in action next Saturday when they host Chelsea at Anfield in a 5:30pm kickoff.
