Gennaro Gattuso reportedly steals a march on Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been linked with a move for Lille right-back Zeki Celik this summer. However, a report from TuttoMercatoWeb have now claimed that Gennaro Gattuso’s new side Fiorentina are stealing a march on the trio – with talks underway.

Celik, 24, has been in incredible form for Lille over the last few seasons. Now, with more than 100 appearances under his belt for the French side, Turkey international Celik is quickly emerging as one of Europe’s best right-backs. Indeed, he played a crucial part in Lille winning the Ligue 1 title.

The Evening Standard say Arsenal and Tottenham are monitoring Celik, meanwhile French newspaper L’Equipe have recently claimed that Liverpool are also keen. However, all three Premier League clubs could now miss out on the right-sided flyer – because of Gattuso.

Italian site TMW claim that Fiorentina has opened talks to sign Celik this summer. His agent has only just claimed that his client is now ready to leave Lille and join a bigger side. Whether Celik feels that could be a move to Fiorentina remains to be seen. He has a contract at Lille until 2023.

Surely Celik can do better than Fiorentina with Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal all keen?

Celik can do a lot better than Fiorentina. Having just won Ligue 1, Celik is hardly going to leave a club that will be in next season’s Champions League to join Fiorentina. A move to the Premier League will be much more tempting. Liverpool are also in the Champions League.

But Celik will want to start and he would be second choice behind Trent Alexander-Arnold. Arsenal have failed to qualify for Europe whatsover. So surely, of the four clubs in question, Celik has to consider Tottenham? Serge Aurier is likely to go and Matt Doherty has struggled. Spurs is his best fit.
