Gedson Fernandes could be the next player through the front foor at West Ham with reports claiming the club are in talks with Benfica over a move for the midfielder – and his latest Instagram post is likely to cause quite a stir.

Sky Sports have claimed that West Ham are in talks with Benfica over a move for the 20-year-old, and also state that the two-time Portugal international prefers a move to east London over Manchester United due to family reasons.

It is believed West Ham are looking to strike an 18-month loan deal with a view to purchasing Fernandes. The midfielder is known to be able to play anywhere in midfield, either out wide, the 10 role, holding midfield or just central midfield.

Now, Hammers fans will are in meltdown on social media after the highly-rated midfielder – who has already clocked up 58 senior outings for Benfica – posted a picture on Instagram, with the Hammers emoji.

The Hammers need additions in the middle of the park, with Jack Wilshere struggling with injury, Carlos Sanchez well below par in terms of performances and the Hammers failing to replace the losses of Pedro Obiang and Cheikhou Kouyate.

Not only has Gedson posted a Hammers emoji on his latest post amid reported talks between his club and West Ham, but a Hammers player has now commented “pace” on his post. Mesaque Dju played alongside Fernandes in the Benfica youth setup.
