Celtic have recently been linked with a move to bring Peterborough United striker Ivan Toney to the club this summer.
Posh director of football Barry Fry confirmed to the Daily Mail last month that Celtic are indeed interested.
With Celtic worried about a potential exit of star striker Odsonne Edouard, a move for the impressive League One star would make sense.
However, The Scottish Sun made it clear that Celtic would not meet Toney’s apparent £15 million price-tag.
The appointment of Gavin Strachan at Celtic recently has certainly exacerbated those rumours. Strachan has been working as assistant manager at Peterborough where he has been overlooking Toney’s incredible 26-goal season.

Strachan, the son of former Celtic boss Gordon Strachan, has now moved to Celtic as first-team coach. Immediately, Celtic fans put the link between Strachan and Toney together.
The new Celtic coach has now spoken about the issue himself. As reported by the Glasgow Evening Times, Strachan heaped praise on Toney but also made it clear he had not yet been at Celtic long enough to understand the intricacies of the Bhoys transfer process.
“I’ve only been on the training pitch for a week and two days so I’ve just been introducing myself to people. I haven’t really been privy to those sorts of things.
“I enjoyed working with Ivan and he’s a striker who has attracted lots of attention and rightly so.”
Celtic are, at the moment, unlikely to make a move for Toney. Unless Edouard makes his move away from Celtic, there is hardly any need to bring in another striker, with Celtic having plenty of cover.
But if Celtic do end up losing the French striker, then having Strachan on board can only help them lure Toney to Parkhead this summer.
