PSV Eindhoven’s Gaston Periero says that his agent is currently working on an offer from Aston Villa, as per Sport 890.
The Uruguay international told the radio station live on air that the Dutch club have reached an agreement with MLS franchise Cincinnati.
But he says his agent is working on an offer from Villa, and that he would personally prefer to remain in European football.
He stated: “PSV told me that they have already come to an agreement with Cincinnati. I told my representative that if there is a chance to stay in Europe I prefer that. He is working on an offer from Aston Villa.”
As per Transfermarkt, the 24-year-old scored 11 goals across all competitions for PSV last season, but has found himself out of favour this term, raising the prospect of a January move.

TBR’s View – Concerns over Pereiro’s ability to hit the ground running
There are obvious plus sides to signing Pereiro. Villa are short on creativity – Jack Grealish aside – and the midfielder has a recent history of offering a goal threat from the engine room.
He is an international and at 24 years old, he is the right age to improve further.
But Villa need players to come in and make an impact now, and having played just 345 minutes of football this season, there are legitimate concerns over his sharpness and capacity to do that.
Also, do Villa need another midfielder? A reliable striker is likely a higher priority for Dean Smith.
