Liverpool are surging towards their first Premier League title.

The Reds have won 21 of their 22 games so far, drawing the other against Manchester United back in October.

One man who has undoubtedly been one of Liverpool’s standouts is Jordan Henderson, who’ll be the man to lift the trophy come May barring any spectacular collapse.

The England international and Anfield captain has been quietly enjoying one of the best seasons of his career in 2019/20, and former Everton defender Gary Stevens has been blown away by the dynamo.

In a discussion about Liverpool’s best midfield, he said on Stadium Astro: “I think Jurgen Klopp would say Henderson is absolutely crucial to my team and to the success that we’ve had across the last two seasons and the success we’re going to have come the end of this season.

“Henderson is absolutely fundamental, in my opinion, to Liverpool Football Club.”

To back up his view, Stevens points out that Henderson has been virtually ever-present for the Reds in recent times, playing in 33 league games last term as well as 13 Champions League matches.

Henderson – a £20 million signing from Sunderland back in 2011 (BBC Sport) – has featured in 21 of Liverpool’s 22 league games in 2019/20 so far, despite many acknowledging he may not be the best ‘footballing’ midfielder.

He has never, and will never be, a glamorous technician-type player, but his leadership qualities are what make him outstanding from other players.

He fits Klopp’s system so well and his energy is rivalled by very few.
