Tottenham Hotspur legend, Graham Roberts, was left confused last night by Jose Mourinho’s decision to leave out Toby Alderweireld.
The Spurs boss made the big call to leave out both Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez. He instead went with Ben Davies and Joe Rodon, with the latter making a crucial mistake to allow Liverpool’s third goal.

It was another bold call from Mourinho but one that, this time, backfired. Indeed, the Spurs boss admitted after the game that individual errors had cost his side the game.
And taking to his Twitter account, Spurs legend Roberts was among the former players to question Mourinho’s decision.
Roberts is often passionate about his former club and isn’t frightened to air his views. But his opinion this time was one shared by a lot of Spurs fans, too.
A quick sweep of social media following the game saw many asking the same question. Others, meanwhile, also questioned Mourinho’s decision not to get Carlos Vinicius involved when Harry Kane went off.
From the outside, it certainly looks like Mourinho could have made some better decisions last night.
TBR View: Bizarre call, Mourinho must regret it now
Most people don’t question a boss of Mourinho’s calibre. Why would you? He’s won everything, knows his football, and will often be proven right.
But last night he got it wrong. It was a strange call to not play the defenders mentioned, while the decision not to have a focal point in the second half cost Spurs the game.
Mourinho will have learnt some lessons here. Well, Spurs fans will be hoping he has anyway.
