‘There’s no doubt’: Gary Neville makes worrying claim about Leeds after their defeat to Everton

It was another worrying looking performance and weekend of Premier League football for Leeds United this weekend, as they were hammered at Everton.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men just haven’t been able to get going this season properly. Injuries have played their part and inconsistent performances have left them looking over their shoulders at the bottom three. Indeed, the sit just six points above the drop zone as things stand, albeit Norwich don’t really look like putting a run together to catch them.

However, Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville still has a niggling worry for Leeds and their fans. And he has told his podcast on Sky that he believes the Whites could well be dragged into a relegation fight come May.

“I think Everton will get out of it. I think Leeds could get dragged back in. Brentford I would be worried about, they’ve played more games,” Neville said.

“I do feel that Newcastle team isn’t going down. So there’s no doubt there’s one of two of those sides, Leeds and Brentford in particularly, who could get dragged back into it. They’d be big losses by the way.”

Leeds have won just once in their last five games in all competitions. Prior to that it was a similar story, with just a single win from five coming in the December and January fixtures.

TBR’s View: Leeds Will Be Fine Thanks To Others

Leeds could play poorly between now and the end of the season and probably still stay up. Watford are looking woeful, while Burnley and Norwich are hardly pulling up any trees.

And as Neville says, Brentford could also end up dipping. On the whole, Leeds should have enough to pick up another three or four wins or so. As thing stand, that will probably be enough to keep them up.

Newcastle will pull clear, while Frank Lampard will surely lead Everton to safety with the quality of the Toffees’ squad.
