‘He can’t do that’: Gary Neville slams Manchester City man for 73rd minute moment against Liverpool

Manchester City might have felt they could have beaten Liverpool today had they been a bit more clinical, with both sides settling for a 2-2 draw in the end.

An end to end game had pretty much everything in it and City and Liverpool both had good chances. Both also put in some hefty challenges and in the end, 2-2 was probably a fair result.

City did have some golden chances, including a fine one right at the end through Riyad Mahrez. However, one of the biggest misses of the day came when Gabriel Jesus went scampering down the right hand side of the box. But instead of squaring the ball, the Brazilian smashed the ball into the side netting. And speaking on Sky, Gary Neville was left far from impressed with what Jesus did.

“Oh, he can’t do that. It’s the one thing he couldn’t do. He had so many players joining in the middle. Three were streaming into the box. Foden in the middle and two more in behind,” Neville said on Sky co-comms.

Jesus, to be fair to him, did have a good game and got himself on the scoresheet as well. He did cause Andy Robertson plenty of problems and showed why Pep Guardiola picks him.

TBR’s View: Jesus Needed To Keep His Composure Here

This was a simple moment of a player fancying themselves for the headlines when a simple pass was probably the right option. But at the end of the day, Jesus is a striker and he’s always going to look to score.

No doubt, though, Pep Guardiola will have something to say in the analysis this week. It was a huge moment in a huge game and could have all but sealed the title.

On the whole, a point isn’t bad for City. But Jesus could have won the game for them here as well.
