Gary Neville says Spurs star Son Heung-min is unbelievable
Gary Neville has told UMM that Son Heung-min is an unbelievable player and insisted that the Tottenham Hotspur star is world-class when it was put to him that the South Korean is still underrated.
Son has just enjoyed the best two years of his career. It appears that he is at the peak of his powers. He has scored 46 goals in all competitions in the last two seasons. And he won the Golden Boot in the Premier League during the last campaign.
Of course, Harry Kane is the talisman at Tottenham. And much of the talk centres around what he could achieve in the future.
The question is often whether Kane can achieve his goals at Spurs. And whether the striker is going to become the leading goalscorer in Premier League history.
‘Understated, not under-rated’
And with that, Son is perhaps not given the same spotlight. It was therefore, put to Neville that the 30-year-old is still underrated by many.
And the Sky Sports pundit seemed to suggest that few doubt just how good Son actually is. However, his ability to go about his business with minimal fuss probably means that he does not get the full credit he deserves.
“Son Heun-min is understated, not under-rated,” he told UMM.
“Understated not under-rated, think of players like Iniesta, Paul Scholes, David Silva; they’ve got that manner about them…David Silva. He’s a world class player, unbelievable in Manchester City for ten years.
“Son is an unbelievable player, he’s world class. But because he’s understated, he doesn’t grab the headlines.”
Son Heung-min is unbelievable
Son must be a manager’s dream to work with. He is clearly one of the best players in the Premier League. And yet, there seems to be no speculation about his future.
He appears to be a fantastic squad member. The Tottenham players love him. And he is universally popular amongst the fanbase.
The next couple of years could define what kind of legacy he leaves. Spurs look to have a real opportunity to contend for honours under Conte.
Should he help Tottenham win silverware, there is absolutely no way that he will not get the plaudits he deserves.
Gary Neville was speaking UMM to celebrate the start of the new season with Sky Sports. The broadcaster have 128 live Premier League games and the first pick of matches for every weekend this season.
