Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker has been praised by Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville for his “outstanding” efforts this season.

The 30-year-old has made 39 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side this term, including 22 in the Premier League and 10 in the Champions League.

Walker was especially impressive in the Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain, pocketing Kylian Mbappe in the first leg and Neymar in the second.

The England international lost his place to Joao Cancelo at the start of 2021 but he has worked hard to cement his place in Guardiola’s starting XI once again.

His heroics during the 2020-21 campaign saw him make Neville’s Team of the Season.

The Manchester United legend told Sky Sports: “Kyle Walker has become an outstanding performer in a defensive position for Manchester City.

“He’s been a lot more disciplined in how he’s played. I think he’s been an important part of what they’ve done.”

Credit to Walker for how well he’s done this season – he had his critics following his £50million move four years ago and at various points during his time at the Etihad but he’s answered them in style.

City have been nigh-on unstoppable for most of the campaign and Walker has been a big part of this, one of the team’s unsung heroes who’s now rightly being recognised for his efforts.
